Natural Choreography

My favorite style of documentary

I love this so much. Some people call it moving post cards or moving stills but I call it "natural choreography." This is where as I move through out my day I set my camera up in a position that is compositionally attractive and interesting. I then let the world do its natural dance. Often, people will enter and exit and do unique movements surprisingly on rhythm. This can also look like a scene from film unfolding in front of your eyes. It can be so simple and so beautiful. I love it because you don't know what will happen and very often it is a beautiful natural moment that is captured. Like a moving painting.

This is Eric (LBT photo): a street photographer I met in Toulouse. He does incredible political photography. I took this photo as he was rolling a joint.

What makes my study abroad program (SIT) unique is the fact that there is a designated period where you work on your own independent project. I decided to create a documentary on shepherd agriculture in Ireland and Northern Spain.
